The Marriage You Never Dreamed Of - Practical Steps to extraordinary, lasting love.
An A to Z of family relationships from a Christian perspective. 26 chapters on building better relationships presented in a simple straightforward format. Ideal for busy people as each chapter can be read in a few minutes. the questions will prompt you to think about ways you can enhance, develop and grow your relationships.
The book focuses primarily on marriage and family relationships. Whether you are about to be married, newly wed, married with children or celebrating golden anniversaries - this book is for everyone who wants to grow and build better and more meaningful relationships.
However the principles are applicable to any relationship. Hence they can be applied at home, at work or in social occasions.
The book is a manual and wookbook all in one. It is jam-packed with many good ideas and can be used as a resource for many years to come.
Love this book! It’s full of inspiring, real-life-pondering quotes and great ideas which definitely help develop fuller, more fulfilling relationships. I took one idea a week and focused on trying it out for a week. The practice overflowed beyond a week and improved relationships outside my marriage too – work, family, friends. One of my favourites is the second chapter, Build People, which is all about encouragement and how that brings out the best in others. Building and encouraging others is like a positive cycle, the more you do it, the more it develops, the better they feel, the better you feel which leads into encouraging and building them more, which often leads to them beginning to build up and encourage you too. ABOUT THE AUTHOR
Brian Taylor is an ordinary bloke with a regular job. In some respects he started life behind the eight ball, suffering from poor self-image and a an inability to relate to other people. He has no formal training in psychology or marriage counselling. What he does have is a strong relationship with God. He has developed this over many years by praying and reading, studying and memorising the Bible and over the years this has resulted in personal growth and the ability to form and maintain stronger personal realtionships
Brian has spent many years helping people grow and develop their relationship with God. He and his wife Alison have a solid and happy marriage and their three adult children all have excellent communication and relationship skills.
Brian originally wrote this book for his daughter and future son-in-law and he warmly invites you to share this invaluable resource.
A Story from the author:
A few weeks ago I met a man on a Wednesday. The way the conversation developed it was appropriate that I ask “How is your marriage?”
The answer indicated clearly that there was considerable room for improvement.
So, I briefly pointed to some chapters that may be useful, given the conversation. He requested a copy of the book.
His “homework” was to read the first chapter Attitude of Gratitude every day between Wednesday and Sunday and consider how to put it into practice with his wife and children.
The chapter is just a couple of pages so it doesn’t take long to read. The benefit comes from applying the ideas to relationships.
I met him and his wife the following Sunday, just four days later. Naturally, I asked how the last few days had gone. He answered:
“Just fantastic! I found that by thinking about how I could express thanks to my wife and children, my anger dissipated!”
Now, that was a good investment – with very quick returns.
