We all need to become overcomers

What an inspirational and well-written movie! The Kendrick brothers keep producing hits that deliver a powerful message of God's grace and salvation through Jesus. The characters are believable and the storyline is beautiful. I highly recommend it.

Who Are You?

After watching Overcomer what would you say it was about?
If you said it was all about Aryn Wright-Thomson's character of a teenage girl deceived by her grandmother for years about her father's death? You'd be right.
If you said the film was about two school teachers and how the closure of a factory in their town impacted their lives? You'd be right. If you said the film was about a father seeking forgiveness from his daughter because of something he did in the past? You'd be right.
Even though the film contains all of the above, they are not the most important theme presented in this latest production by the Kendrick brothers. I read a recent interview with Alex and Stephen and it gave me an insight into what they wanted to achieve with Overcomer.
They want to help people discover their identity in Christ.
The Kendrick brothers contend that when you know you are forgiven, redeemed, loved and chosen as it says in Ephesians, you are going to act differently.
They want you to be bold in your faith, to have the confidence to know you are forgiven because God says you are.
They want you to know that you are loved because God says you are, regardless of your feelings and regardless of what the world says about you. When you know that certainty, that’s going to impact your behaviour. That’s going to impact how you express your faith. Do they achieve that in this film? Have a look and see for yourself.
